CARS Program (Co-Occurring Adult Recovery Solutions)

In 2012 a therapeutic community was opened on one unit of the LBU. This program, known as the Co-Occurring Adult Recovery Solutions (CARS) program, is a therapeutic community which addresses mental health and substance disorders. The CARS program offers many positive advantages for the residents who participate, such as structured group intervention, individual counseling, and other treatment related activities. The focus of treatment programming is very positive and pro-social, assisting residents with developing the skills necessary to build clean and sober social networks while learning how to actively contribute to their community

"Program participants learn effective real-life ways that will help them live a life free of drugs and crime and successfully manage their psychiatric disorders so they may progress toward the realization of their recovery"(Spectrum Health Systems, Inc.).
